Microsoft's massive $7.5 billion acquisition of Bethesda has undoubtedly shaken the gaming industry and has some fans dreaming of other potential massive acquisitions.

Konami, the publishing company behind the Metal Gear and Silent Hill series, trended on Twitter today as gamers took the Bethesda/Microsoft news as hope that Sony could do something similar and gain control of some beloved but recently-maligned IPs held by the company.

Konami has fallen from gamers' good graces in recent years due to some frustrating business decisions, including a high-profile breakup from video game auteur Hideo Kojima, right as he appeared about to revive Silent Hill with a title called Silent Hills, and then scrubbed the game's incredible demo P.T. from stores everywhere.

It's unclear if anything will come from the fan outcry for such a massive business acquisition, but fans can certainly dream.
