Hatsune Miku has finally dropped into the Fortnite map, albeit to mixed reactions about her in-game "skin." The much-awaited Miku Fornite Festival collab comes months after collabs with other real-life celebrities like Eminem and Snoop Dogg, with the Vocaloid arguably having the most awaited entry of the bunch.

Fortnite Miku was officially released on January 14th, alongside an alternative pink "Festival" skin. Most surprisingly, Vocaloid fans received a LEGO Hatsune Miku model for the first time in history, with players immediately posting videos of LEGO Miku hitting the griddy mid-game. Here's everything you need to know about the Miku Fortnite collab, from the fan art to the forced hate.

When Did 'Fornite' First Announce a Hatsune Miku Skin?

While whispers of a possible Miku Fortnite collab began making the rounds all the way back in December 2024, the news was not fully confirmed until Hatsune Miku's official Twitter account posted a tweet that read, "Miku’s backpack is missing, has anybody seen it?" leading to Fortnite Festival's official page replying, "Finders keepers? Don’t worry, we’ll hold it for you backstage 🤭."

The tease was immediately followed by a flurry of leaks and speculation, with people debating which Miku models would make it into the game and which wouldn't. It was a safe bet that the game would feature the "classic" Miku skin, with her collared vest, tie and black skirt, but other internet users were convinced that a "Neko Miku" would also make her way into the game.

How Did People React To The News About a Possible 'Fortnite' Miku Skin?

Hatsune Miku is arguably the most popular Vocaloid, and her fans reacted in kind to the news that she's making her way to the most popular battle royale game in the world. Memes counting down to Miku's January 14th Fortnite release were a popular trend in the days leading up to her entrance, as seen in a Just A Week Away edit by @ehebai that read, "HATSUNE MIKU FORTNITE,, JUST A LEEK AWAY,,"

Other internet users posted memes in anticipating of the release too, like @supersonic16023, who edited the Gi-hun from Squid Game to say, "Four!"

When Did Miku Enter 'Fortnite Festival' And How Did People React To 'Hate' Against The Official Miku Skin?

Fortnite Festival released a trailer for the Hatsune Miku collaboration on January 13th, 2025, showing off the "Classic" Miku skin and teasing other Item Shop variants.

An official Hatsune Miku xLEGO skin was also announced on January 14th, with internet users posting clips of Lego Miku hitting the griddy in the game.

However, not everyone was happy about the way the collaboration panned out. Some people thought that Fortnite Miku had a bit of an uncanny air to her; they thought her eyes were a little too beady and her jaw a little too large.

Some internet users also tried to lump the Miku Fornite skin in with other unpopular collaborations, like the Fortnite Cybertruck event, or the bizarre Fortnite x Skibidi Toilet Collab.

But Miku fans stood strong, drowning out the hate with funny videos of the Vocaloid emoting and sniping players in the game.
On January 14th, X user @Fafuhnir tweeted, "Got a live hatsune miku concert right before being executed," showing a gaggle of players wearing Miku skins standing over him and emoting before shooting at him.

Several internet users posted fanart inspired by the Miku Fortnite collab, as seen in posts by @BombsAh0y and @HatsuneMikuFort.
