The Weekly Meme Roundup: Penguin Tariffs, ZackScott's Elephant Daisy Art, R.E.P.O. 'I Love,' Chimpanzini Bananini And More

If you're a fan of penguins, elephants or saxophones, boy do we have a weekly meme roundup for you.
This week, the reciprocal tariffs hit penguins on a remote set of islands, a clip from the massively popular game R.E.P.O. got us all teary eyed, an insane saxophone solo took over our TikTok feeds and a YouTuber named ZackScott unlocked brand new, very confusing feelings in a lot of Twitter / X users with his Elephant Daisy art.
Here are five of the biggest memes of the past week that you need to catch up on.
R.E.P.O. "I Love"
R.E.P.O. is the multiplayer survival-horror game-of-the-moment right now and recently, it got its first big meme thanks to a beautiful clip from Twitch streamer PresidentLloyd.
In the clip, a R.E.P.O. player passionately sings "Chest Pain (I Love)" by Malcolm Todd while rolling around on the ground. The clip quickly went viral when PresidentLloyd posted it to his Instagram page. From there, it was reposted across social media, inspiring someone to make an edit where the clip transitions to the actual song about halfway through.
This went viral on TikTok as talented amateur editors took it upon themselves to reanimate the video in elaborate ways that highlight the passion behind the player's performance.
Animations based on the clip have been flooding TikTok and YouTube this week, covering a wide variety of styles. Beyond animation, the clip has also inspired lip dubs and stylized lyric videos that play off of the original livestream moment.

ZackScott's Elephant Daisy Art Commissions
Gaming YouTuber ZackScott made the bold move to put it all out there this week by going on a commissioning spree for Elephant Daisy art and proudly posting about it on X / Twitter.

For those who don't know, Elephant Daisy is a version of Princess Daisy from the Super Mario Bros. series that looks like an elephant (similar to Elephant Mario). The design is based on the Elephant Fruit powerup from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which turns characters into elephant-human hybrids when eaten.
A lot of people became instant fans of the powerup when it was first teased in 2023, including some who found the elephant-hybrid versions of the characters highly … appealing. One of those people was ZackScott, who, that year, started commissioning artists to make their Princess Daisy art into Elephant Daisy art.
For some reason, ZackScott decided to take his love of Elephant Daisy to a whole other level this week. The YouTuber has been consistently commissioning artists to turn their Daisy art into Elephant Daisy art all week and sharing the results on X to thousands of likes.
Rather than shame ZackScott for this, many have been praising him for hiring the actual artists to alter their work rather than simply using AI to make Daisy into an elephant. So, be warned, artists: If you've ever drawn Daisy before, you might want to check your DMs for a message from ZackScott.

Penguin Tariffs
Everybody is understandably stressed out about the reciprocal tariffs right now, but have you ever stopped to think of the tariffs being imposed on the penguins of Heard Island?

This week, the people of social media tried to squeeze a little bit of fun out of a decidedly not-fun situation with jokes about penguins on remote islands becoming the victims of tariffs by the current U.S. President. What might come as a shock to some is that the jokes stem from reality.
When the official White House X account released the full list of tariffs on countries, Heard Island and the McDonald Islands were included as having 10 percent tariffs charged against them, despite these islands being inhabited solely by penguins.
In fact, the islands haven't even had a recorded visitor in at least a decade. So, unless these penguins are exhibiting Penguins of Madagascar level thinking abilities, it might be kind of hard to get any money out of them. Maybe they could pay in fish? Just a thought.

I Got a Brand New Saxophone
Meme rapper Tockyy's generational hit "Troy Bolton" went viral this week thanks to the sick saxophone solo that comes in after he raps, "I just jugged a band director, I got a brand new saxophone."
The song actually started going viral on TikTok in late March, but it's only continued growing this week, arguably hitting its peak on the algorithm.
At one point in the song, which is named after a character from High School Musical, Tockyy raps about jugging (robbing) a band director for a saxophone, then transitions into an absolutely insane sax solo.
TikTokers have been taking this section of the song and setting it to hype reaction clips, including videos of people dancing and generally acting out as the track plays.
Some people are calling it the "song of the summer," and with the way it's going viral, they just might be right. On top of it all, the song has become entangled with some related memes, like the "1:14 That Piano" and "That Banjo" memes.

Chimpanzini Bananini
Finally, we offer you yet another Italian AI Brainrot Animal in the form of "Chimpanzini Bananini," because this meme series just refuses to die.

Like every other brainrot animal, this meme is based on an AI-generated image of a hybrid animal — this time a cross between a monkey and a banana, set to an Italian monologue explaining the backstory of the anomaly.
The monkey first popped up in mid-March 2025 but has only grown more viral alongside its Italian brainrot brethren this week, becoming the subject of further AI-generated monstrosities, from "versus" videos to elaborate edits to new variations on the creature and more.
As far as Italian AI animals go, this one is a bit of a thinker. Why would an ape need to be hybridized with its favorite food? Does it know that its body is made of banana, or would it just eat itself to death if it knew that?
If only someone out there understood Italian, we might be able to unlock the answers.
