I should have made this thread months ago why I'm such a procastinator

By Thegreato

As there's some folks on the site who follow the series, I though it was better to create a thread to discuss the series and unclutter the galleries and the entry comments, so we can freely talk about the manga without spoiling.

This week, we can discuss how the One Piece fandom will be ruined by furries and I guess some other things too, like why that Minkwoman wears Nami's clothes or why Ryuunosuke will be the next nakama.

Excellent series my favorite fight is and probably will always be Luffy vs Lucci, I'm so glad he's back in the picture

Random Sugar because why not

How convenient, I just left another Manga site because they did nothing but complain over the tiniest details and was missing a One Piece thread.

Also, I'd like to point out that at this point, the Snake Neck Tribe is the only tribe from the Slave List back at Shabody that hasn't shown up. Also 95% sure Bepo is a Mink.

On the topic of "Minkmen" apparently there's already R34 of the newest characters. Or so I've been told.

Also, seriously. Look at the size of Carrot's cottontail.

It's frickin' huge

There was rule 34 before the translations came out, rule 34 works fast

Theory Time:

The minkwoman with Nami's clothes is not Nami of course. She either stole them or were given to them by Nami. I get the feeling that we will see the Curly Brows next week or possibly see Kinemon and Kanjuro find Raizo. Now, who could be the villain of this arc? A henchman for Kaido, Edward Weeble, Jack, or someone completely new and unexpected? There has also been speculation that Chopper may get a GF in this arc, but we'll see.

It's obviously not Nami because last time we saw her, she had on new clothes. Maybe the Mink tribe stole them? I don't think we are seeing Raizo anytime soon, and Kaido is his own Arc, Jack is busy with Doffy, Weeble might show up later but him finding the Straw hats where they are now is unlikely. I feel it will probably be one of Kaido's henchmen since we've seen them on Zou and it's obvious some outside force has wrecked the place.

Also, as a matter of discussion I'd like to bring up one of my favorite fights/moments in the series.

The Luffy V.S Lucci fight and finisher. Was Lucci the best villain? Far from it. But what he brought to the table, given the context of the entire arc was fantastic.

As far as battles go in One Piece, Lucci was one of the few "big" opponents that Luffy was forced to use nothing but pure physical force to defeat. No tricks. No water, no golden ball. Just pushing Luffy to his absolute limit.

In the context of Water 7/ Enies Lobby, it was prefect. The whole premise of the arc was the strawhats pushing themselves farther than they ever had before, all for saving a friend; and breaking out onto the world stage in a way that couldn't be covered up in the process. To have Rob Lucci, the souless killing machine of "justice" as Luffy's opponent was a perfect match.

Ussop's speech and Luffy's final "Jet Gatling" was the perfect climax that could have been, both emotionally and the fight itself.

It was also one of the things the anime got RIGHT

Though there are two versions. The original one for the anime, and a newer one for a special that came out a few years ago "Episode of Merry".

I'd argue that the original version is the FAR superior version, but I'd like to deconstruct why. Here are both versions, watch them and come up with your own opinions.

Original:

"Episode of Merry": (Starts at around 9:21)

On a forum I saw a theory pointing that Minkmen might be experts on mimic, so the money copied Raizou and that minkwoman copied Nami, and we might would see minks that copied other Strawhats later.

For the villain… My guess is a henchman, we might see Weeble and Jack later.

A question has dawned over me. We all know that if a devil fruit user dies, a new fruit with the same powers is grown. But what if the previous user is resurrected after dying? Is there like a time limit for the fruit to last in a dead body? Or is the fruit instantly grown. We have seen Enel resurrect himself with his (badass OP) powers, and he still kept his fruit abilities. Would that mean if given enough time a new fruit is grown and the user is resurrected, could there be two people with the same powers? And what if devil fruits are non digestable because of their awful taste? Could you regurgitate it and swap devil fruit powers?

We know souls exist (Brook) so I assume once the soul leaves the body, you are dead and can't be brought back (except for Brook). We've seen Smiley's Devil Fruit appear pretty instantly after it died, but that might be a SMILE DF feature. I don't think Enel was actually "dead", only his heart stopped and in the process of dying. He consciously activated his DF to restart his heart so he should have technically been alive. We tend to think of heart stopping as the classification of "death" but the brain can still be active afterwards, which means they are technically "still there" Enel was dying, but not yet dead, which is why he could restart his heart and kept his DF.

We've never really seen someone brought back to life without the aid of a DF (Brook and Moria) and we haven't seen a Zombie with a DF power so there is no real answer regarding that.

The SMILE DF is the only Devil Fruit we've seen regenerate, so it might not be the best example, but going off of it, the DF power imprints itself onto nearby fruit, and doesn't "regrow"

Digestion and taste have nothing in common, and we've seen people use their Devil Fruits second after eating them (Luffy, Sabo, Buggy sinking), so it's not a question of digestion, but merely swallowing it. The DF probably absorbs into the body of the user instantly once swallowed and can't "be thrown back up"

Makes sense.

Though I'd like to bring up the other example of a DF's "power" after death.

And that was when Blackbeard stole the "Gura-Gura No Mi" from the dead body of Whitebeard; presumably via his "gravitational" power in relation to devil fruits (Though if I do recall, Marco did have a comment about Teach's body being "different". Whatever that means.)

So maybe theres a very short period of time that a DF resides inside of the users body before "leaving".

Oh, and speaking of Teach, have you guys heard the "Cerberus" theory regarding him? I don't really believe it myself; but I will admit, it has some solid reasoning to it.

Weird to say this, but "Wanda" feels like such a strange name to me. Maybe though that's because the first thing that comes to mind whenever I hear it is either "Fairy Oddparents" or a 1950's dinner waitress.

Also, so Wanda is a "Dog Mink". Dogs are friends. Dogs are love. Dogs are life. It'd be funny to see if she has any stereotypical "dog traits" like going to fetch something, or running around before laying down, or maybe even "tummy rubs/leg twitches".

I'd wager that she does, given how all of the other minkmen seem to have stereotypical traits associated with their animal.

Any Reason For the lick here? lol.

A new OP TV special was announced for December 19th. The special will involve the Straw Hats encountering the Foxy Pirates in the New World. Luffy is drawn into another battle with Foxy on an island where devil fruit powers are negated.

Ok, they are just pulling shit out their ass now, seriously? Foxy made it to the New World? Pfffft

Still in the anime's Thriller Bark arc. Do they still do that godawful "flashback to a scene three episodes ago" and "the first five minutes are entirely pointless recap" filler crap they've been doing for ages?

I'd much rather have actual filler like G8 or the morbidly obese commodore than have to skip the first five minutes of every episode because it's useless. I also think it's entirely responsible for One Piece's tepid performance on Toonami.

Oh my.

Ooooohh myyyyy.

How do I put this?

It gets better, then gets worse; it comes in waves. But I'll just say this. Right around Thriller Bark is the "end" of OP's "golden age" of pacing. It's not going to be awful but it's never going to be as good as it was.

If you're a One Piece fan, do yourself a favor and just read the Manga, the Anime gets seriously fucked with padding later. Kinda understandable since Filler literally killed the Bleach Anime and earned Naruto hatred, and after Thriller Bark, there really isn't a place to put a filler island without doing a Bleach and adding a filler Arc in the middle of a main arc. If I remember correctly, Marineford was good with not doing that, but by the time you hit Dressrosa. the Anime is almost unwatchable.

Did you just say Luffy's father was Roger, because you're wrong. The King of Trolls would be Zoro killing Luffy after finding the OP and him saying, "I wanted to become the World's Greatest Bounty Hunter."

Joke's on him, as 2nd in command he'd become captain and thus have to kill himself to protect his title as "Greatest Bounty Hunter."

Hey, Epyc, do you actually watch/read One Piece or is all your info on it coming from Pop Culture Osmosis? Honest question.

It's an honestly rude question and besides the Zombies-Arc I've seen all episodes. P.S. the best OP character is Vegeta.

New chapter out.

+ Brook's back
+ We see how Sanji and the others escaped Big Mom's ship
+ Looks like "Jack" may have a Wolly Mamoth DF

- Still no word on Sanji

I'd like to point out that this is Nami's first post-timeskip arc outfit that isn't a bikini top/jeans variation.

And it's her best outfit in years.

Moving on there's one other thing that's been on my mind.

Gotta be honest. I'm not a fan of Jack's nickname. "The Drought" just doesn't fit a giant Mamoth guy. I'd go with "The Glacier". A massive force that doesn't care and destroys whatever is in his way. Not to mention it goes along with him being a Woolly Mammoth DF user.

Man, this episode was amazing, Kaidou's crew is f*cking brutal and they went that far just to find the wano guy, I think the deciding factor for Zou's arc length will be Sanji

Info about One Piece Gold:

The film revolves around a giant ship that's pretty much a huge entertainment plaza with casinos. The ship is presumably larger that the Thriller Bark and is recognized by the World Government. The ship is captained by Gildo Tesoro and four henchmen (two guys and two girls).

Not that it's really important. But is this the first time that we've had an enemy crew with two women as main officers? I hope they stay evil. It'll be a nice change of pace.

As for the crew themselves, they seem to fit the roles of casino/entertainment clubs and strips.

We have.

"Tycoon/CEO" (As the main villain)

A "Valet"

A "Bouncer"

A "Mistress/Madam"

And finally a "Flapper girl"

Some additional information on her, according to Oda she won't be making the "crying" expression in the movie.

(Also, for a reason I can't explain, I like her design the best.)

Their motif seems to be a star. Not sure if that's of any actual importance.

So after a several week break we got out new One Piece and shit has gotten real

Capone returns and we got a name, Shiro Shiro no Mi, and it seems like he can enter his own body. He is also ruthless and shot his own comrade and has no care for feelings or family, this guy is not being an ally anytime soon. Pekom's actually willing to put his Mink family over his loyalty to Big Mom is kinda interesting, maybe he will become an ally? I doubt Capone is gonna not tell Big Mom about what Pekom's planned to do.

Also, we now got some info on what happened to Sanji, and maybe some info on why Sanji's bounty is "Alive only" Who are the Vinsmock family? What influence do they have? Both the WG and Big Mom seem interested in them. Sanji definitely knows something and has been keeping something hidden from the crew, is he s defector from decadence like Sabo? It might explain his class. Year of Sanji confrimed!

Also interesting to note is that whoever the Vinsmock family is, they have just now found out about Sanji probably because until now, his Wanted Poster never showed his face, it was either a drawing or the back of his head.
