Owls are my favorite animal. They've been my favorite since I was around 6 or 7 years old. My dad bought me books about owls, which fed into my interest in them.
Due to their distinctive calls, silent flight, nocturnal nature, and the fact that I never saw one, they seemed so fascinatingly mysterious to me.
Particularly, my favorite species of owl are:
The Sooty Owl:
And the Great Gray Owl:

What? No Hummingbirds?
This is the kea, the world's only alpine parrot. As the kea lives only in the mountains of New Zealand, it rarely encounters humans, and thus will curiously investigate any humans it sees.
No macaws?

I agree.
EDIT: This thread can also use more penguins.
Lately Killdeer have been flying around my house and looking for food in the snow. I don't have any photographs of the Killdeer near my home so here's a picture of a bone-eating Bearded Vulture instead.
I would recommend that any of you with a Tumblr account follow becausebirds if you don't already. It's amazing!
