I'm just gonna go ahead and say Keanu Reeves is turning into a huge example of this as of late. I've loved the dude ever since seeing The Matrix and Bill and Ted when I was a teen, but when a Fine Bros. "React" video about E3 was done recently and a 10 year old kid said he didn't recognize Keanu Reeves he got harassed by so called "Keanu fans" from certain infamous subreddits like r/pewdiepiesubmissions. Like seriously what the fuck? If anything I'm 100% certain if Keanu himself knew "fans" of his were harassing a literal child just because said child didn't know who he is he'd be pretty damned ashamed of said "fans."

Most subreddits are trash anyway.
But still I've found this regarding Brutal Doom.
I don't hate the mod like other people do,it's alright but far from being the best Doom modding can offer.
The mod sure gave new life to Doom modding but it's not that special in the end.
There are BD fans who demand certain wads and mods to be compatible with the mod,to the point of even harassing said modders.
They even claim that is an absolute improvement over Vanilla Doom in everything and better than every FPS ever made.
On top of that it doesn't help that main creator is far from being a good person(in fact he was banned from almost all Doom forums) and no matter how many times you point out the issues of the mod, they will say you're an hater or a kid.
(which is funny because most fans of it are teens).
It's an okay mod but the overall coverage from journalists and toxic fans who praise it made it unbearable for a lot of people.

I've been exposed to the more 'extreme' or passionate parts of the fanbase and it gave me that feeling
also Kendrick Lamar in regards to the release of his album 'To Pimp A Butterfly' which people were hailing as a modern musical masteripiece/the second coming of jesus christ in the form of hip-hop the day it was released
Kemono Friends.
I hated Tatsuki getting fired but people harassed every tweet Kadokawa's twitter made, and even harassed some of the VAs because they were forced to defend Kadokawa.

Tbh I think tweeting about tatsuki constantly to the company twitter is fine. It's how you express discontent online. It's no one's personal space and it's only there to advertise/update people.
But going after the VAs isn't cool.
Regarding Miss Fortune's post, I am not sure I understand these people. How exactly do they expect a 10-year-old kid to have any semblance of a connection with or knowledge of Keanu..? Most of his feats and achievements are actually older than that number, so it would be like expecting from those same people that they know who Frank Sinatra was. Lots of people around their 20's would only know him by name, and people around their 40s would be shocked by that… except that they should not since the argument applies here too.
[Insert any female character that I like here]
In all seriousness, I could think millions of examples, but in the end, it all comes down to people obsessing your favorite characters with "AAAAAAAAAAAAA GORGEOUS!!!" or "Goddess". It can happen to male characters as well, but most of the time, it applies only to the female cast.
Everytime that I feel wanting to share my opinion about this specific character, you know, saying she's cool or she's cute or she's interesting or anything really, I feel there's gonna be another person saying something like "Oh yes~! She's such a cool/cute/complex character~! I want to marry her and have kids~! We're gonna be such a happy couple together~! Way better than that "y" character!".
Of course I am over exaggerating, but when I see somebody being unironically obsessive with a certain character that I like, I don't feel so confident in sharing what I like about them. Bonus points if that character's fans are mostly known for this sort of behavior.
This can be appropriated to a lot of political matters.

I have a somewhat reverse example.
See I LIKE to DISLIKE the upcoming Pokemon games because they look like utter shit. I think Masuda is hearing what the fans have to say and then taking a giant shit in their mouth.
I go on /vp/ and even YouTube and its nothing but people complaining, and honestly I cant blame them, its looking pretty unpromising but…
Just don't buy the fucking games!
Personally I have bought every new Pokemon game for a while but this is where I draw the line. These games are looking utterly soulless and I am not going to purchase them. More should follow in my footsteps, if something looks like shit, don't give them your money.
