Topic about Osaka? I could not resist to drop in and write some things about that place.

Osaka and Tokyo are the culinary centers of Japan. Curiously, "Osaka" is actually pronounced like "OH-saka".

There is a popular saying: "Dress (in kimonos) till you drop in Kyoto, eat till you drop in Osaka" (京の着倒れ、大阪の食い倒れ). [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osaka]. That is pronounced "Kyoto no gi daore, Osaka no kui daore".

Among other delicacies, Osaka is the birthplace of:

Takoyaki (octopuss balls)

Okonomiyaki (japanese pancake)

Osaka style sushi

Also, the HQ and birthplace of Glico, best known for their Pocky, is Osaka.

Such a wonderful place.

Also, it is the nickname of Ayumu Kasuga. Although she came from Osaka, she actually was born in the prefecture of Wakayama and attended grade school in Kobe. She is a full kansai girl, though.

Octopuss balls? That sounds…. Disgusting :\.

Takoyaki are quite delicious, actually. Think donut bits with cooked octopi inside, topped with thick worcestershire sause and seaweed.
Though I kind of doubt if octopi have testicles, being mollusks and all.

Actually I was just making fun of the typo, but….

Whatever.
