I don't know about any of you, but I've come across many times where I find out that an actor or actress normally has an accent, yet in their films or TV shows they sound completely American. Probably the biggest time this ever happened to me was with Christian Bale. It was only recentely at this year's Golden Globes when I realized he had an English accent. I thought it was just a temporary one like Madonna had, but I soon realized he was from Wales. This was way to suprising for me, especially since he starred in a movie called AMERICAN Psycho. Have any of you come across this?

Hugh Laurie puts on an American accent for House.
Early in Tim Roth's acting career, Gary Oldman (who clearly excels at doing American accents) advised him to try and get some major roles in which he plays an American, or he would ever be typecast as the British guy.
Another good example I can think of is Naomi Watts. I've seen her do all sorts of accents completely convincingly.
Joss Stone's from Devon, talks like an American.
Simon Baker from The Devil Wears Prada and The Metalist is Australian and covers up his accent.
