Perhaps this is some kind of modern art statement. The misshaped M&M represents OP and the table surrounding it represents society. OP (the M&M) wishes to be different from the rest of society but for all his efforts, society keeps on going, barely even recognizing him. The crack in the M&M also represents OP's claims that he doesn't care about what anyone thinks of him but, deep down, he does care and he is merely afraid to confront his deep-seated emotions associated with society's disappointment in him.
Or OP posted utter crap and what I just said was me being pretentious for the hell of it. Probably that.
