Exactly what it says on the tin. In this thread, we'll share some of our most frustrating or weirdest experiences with Hatedoms or Fandoms of shows/games/books/etc.

For me? An Adventure Time hater (I call them "Adventure Whiners") first told me that Adventure Time merely scared her, but apparently, now it seems that she just hates the show with a burning passion, and seeing it play on a television anywhere is practically her Berserk Button. A list of these frustrations include:

  • When we were driving around one day, I noticed Adventure Time playing on a TV in our local McDonalds. I pointed this out to everyone, the hater who happened to be in our vehicle at the time, goes on a tirade about how people seem to be unable to go thirty seconds without seeing something trashy on the TV. (She likely wouldn't have given a you-know-what if it had been anything else.)
  • She got really mad when my cousin, who also didn't share a high opinion of Adventure Time initially, watched some episodes and decided he actually liked it. Before that, she and I had a small arguement over whether he did like it or not.
  • She actually saw me watching it on TV once and pulled a "Ed's Sister Sarah" on me, namely, she told my mom I was watching it, apparently made her believe there was something awful on the show, and made me turn it off.
  • And then, I finally confessed that I had gotten the First Season of the show after hiding it from her for the past two weeks. She…did not take it very well:

The most frustrating part of this whole story? The Adventure Whiner is none other than my sister, thus I have to deal with this on a regular basis.

@Lugia41 Wow… that actually made me cringe at points.

My brother hates, and I mean hates japanese-style anime. I used to hate it to, but after seeing a bit of Dragon Ball, I do like it now. He constantly teases me about it.

AND HE WON"T QUIT UNTIL I'VE BROKEN.

At school, you can't enjoy anything that isn't in the mainstream. You can't openly enjoy pretty much any fandom without out being SANDBLASTED with hate. Oh well. Everyone there except, maybe three people, is a total bastard.

I was a hater for the majority of my life… cringe

Reminds me of the time I had to explain to one of my friends that "a meme isn't just an inside joke shared on the internet – so just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

I'm not really in mainstream fandoms, so I don't get much hate.

But there was this one time that I said I didn't like DotA because I preferred LoL and a lot of people said I have shit taste and that I wasn't a true gamer.

As opposed to… Brazilian-style anime?

I can vouch for that. At my school, it seems like there is only mainstream.

I personally can't stand anime or manga
I don't know why
But I feel like it's the country music of cartoon shows
There are so many recurring themes in every single anime show, it's pathetic
It's like, oh, good, there's giant robots controlled by half-naked women
Oh, good, there's ninjas / samurai
Oh, good, cat schoolgirls with boobs that turn into guns
And don't even get me started on everyone's fucking hair
I mean, is it really that fucking hard to come up with original concepts
I feel like Hayao Miyazaki's the only person that actually tries to give anime a good name

I'm tired of all the Call of Duty hate. Yeah, the game has some odd moments, but I enjoy playing the games. Definitely not my favorite series, but it's fun.

Now, the most interesting part about all this is how I get attacked both over message boards for liking these games. I've been called a "Casual Faggot", or at least another name that's similar, by plenty of people. It usually comes from people that only play PC games, which doesn't surprise me.

It's amazing how simply being the most popular franchise gets you so much hate.
