Spoiler Tags: What do you think?

One minor problem I noticed was that sometimes people will put a picture in a broad gallery that contains spoilers for a specific show/game/ect, but if you see a picture in the Tumblr gallery with a spoiler tag you don't have a goddamn clue what it's a spoiler for. If people are going to post a spoiler, it needs to go in the gallery that it is spoiling.

Otherwise, I couldn't be happier about spoiler tags. While we're talking about this, though, I'd like to bring up a change I'd like to see happen in the image gallery: Anyone who goes on Imgur knows that after you click on an image, a thick green border is left around the image to let you know you've already looked at it. Considering we have spoiler and NSFW tags were we can't tell whether or not we've already seen it, having a similar mechanic would be very nice. I don't know how hard that would be to program, however.

@Deltamelon

Getting KYM to place a border around every image thumbnail you click on could be done with simple javascript code, but getting KYM to remember all the things you clicked on is a bit more advanced, requiring more deeper code modification and that's enough to get it left on the backburner for infinity.

There's a lot of work that gets done on this site and unimportant aesthetic changes take a very low priority to them. It was hard enough as it was lobbying the spoiler tag into a higher priority. So lets not push it.

The spoiler tag, as it stands is a simple implementation. We based it off the NSFW tag we already had. But we had to keep it very simple to get it off the ground

So of course we may need to make further adjustments to make it more complex and best suited to the site. But that will come in time as we see how the tag works in practice.

Your suggestions do help, guys.

i am happy they are here but i am unhappy that people don’t seem to know what is tag worthy and what isn’t

Yea don't expect people to figure it out on the get go. But that's another area where you guys come in.

KYM has no moderation policies on spoilers. It's just there for your convenience. So how it is used entirely depends on community dictation. It's up to you.

Use it right, show other people how to use it right and it will be used right.

Alright, makes sense. I have no idea what goes on between the "higher ups," but I'm sure there's more pressing matters. The lack of identifiers on the NSFW/Spoiler tags is little more than a nuisance anyways. I do however think this is an excellent idea and am surprised to hear it was that difficult to prioritize.

I can understand if people don't get how the spoiler tags should be used yet, but some do and I'm sure the competent Scrapbookers can take it into their own hands; going into a gallery for a show/game/ect that they know very well, they could make pretty rational decisions on which pictures are spoilery and mark it themselves. I've already had that done to a few of my Evangelion gifs, which I would've done had nobody else done so.

Also I think they should some how expire after a time other wise you might look like--
Spoiler Alert!!

(Thing from previous year/season/movie)

I feel as though certain spoilers should always stayed tagged. That is, a picture that reveals either a plot twist or the last 5-10% of the show should always be spoiler tagged, because, frankly, they will always be spoilers. I see what the worry is; we have hundreds of diligent Scrapbookers, myself included, that can handle this stuff with ease. I browse the KYM image gallery about five times a day, so I can certainly keep up with this stuff.
