But let's leave that aside. You're free to make a community project like everyone else here, you just have to realize that right now it's not really about KYM but just yourselves on the internet.

Well, alright, then! There's no problem here. We have come to terms, Mimiga. Thanks, man.

Ok, RandomMan, you know what they did? They took your complaint, read it, replied, and threw it in the trash. They wanted to make a game about themselves, not KYM. Direct quote from one of them was "Fuck the critics." They didn't really do anything, saying that it would "cost too much", when in reality the total time we spent actually doing anything was about a day, and our money spent was zero. This project went directly from a cool idea to a highway to hell, all because someone didn't want to lower their ego.

For the last goddamn time: The project started before you joined up. You aren't in control. This is a team effort. I have put my blood and my sweat and my tears into this project, and will continue to do so come hell or high water, as long as it takes. And so will every other person involved with this project. And before you start pointing fingers at us for being driven by ego, remember that the first thing you said to us was "can I be in your game?".

Now, take a day, take a week, take however long you need to think about this. If you are willing to accept the fact that your ideas are not the end-all-be-all of the game, then come on back, we'll welcome you with open arms. If not, that's fine, we won't hold it against you, we'll just go our separate ways. But until you are absolutely sure, I don't want to see you on the board.

(I think a better title would be "Smackerjack N' Friend's Smashy Bangy Wibbilywob".)

…Coffee, I'm going to say this as nicely as possible. If you have any complaints, any at all, bring them to us and say it to us. We will get to you as soon as possible. If you have not legitimate complaints, then I suggest you please get out, and consider making your own game.

Thank you.

Can't we just stop talking whether the game is a KYM fighting game or not and actually talk about it in general?

What's the controls, anyway? I don't have a controller here that can connect to PCs.

But technically, that IS about the game. It's about the game in the most general sense, it's about the game's identity. In other words, it's about the game's entirety, thus about the game in the greatest of ways.

Also, aren't you in the game? If so, wouldn't you know about the controls?

It's a five button fighter. Think Guilty Gear's buttons.

Your possible issues between the rest of the devs and yourself aren't my concern. As was pointed out, you did join later, so we can't conclude your points as accurate. You for example did make a mistake in saying that they would be "mostly cameos," showing a current lack of insight.

Is the roster still a secret? Or can we know about it now?

Y'know what, I'm in a good mood. Let's do this a piece at a time.

SmackerJack: Titanomachina
Shadowmancreator
RandomMan
and Super Robo Jesus have all joined the battle!

Ship to your heart's content.

Yes, I know i'm not in control. That's the thing, I can't tell you whether or not you should include other people other than you and your friends in your game. And no, it isn't really a "team effort" if you're taking most of the control away from me. Blood, sweat, and tears? Dude, we've been working LIGHTLY on this FOR A DAY. And I didn't ask to be in your game first, I contributed, then asked, just like everyone else. Even then, my role could be described at most as a cameo.
And i'm not coming back. Part of me wishes this were a "you're-gonna-miss-me-when-i'm-gone" scenario, but i'm trying not to be bitter.

You have been working lightly on this for a day. We have been working quite heavily for almost a month. I'm really sorry to hear that you won't be coming back, and I don't expect you to forgive us. But at least understand that I'm not in the game. And I haven't said shit about it since day one. I am more than happy just to be involved on the creation of this game. Thank you for your contribution. Singular.

He isn't in the team so he wouldn't know what controllers the team is planning to use for the game.

No, I've been there for quite a while. I was actually one of the first people to reply. And I don't think writing text inside of boxes is much work. And yeah, you WERE in the game, as a "non playable character". Don't forget the things you helped write. And I haven't said shit about my role. I was pretty happy, really. And if I made myself more notable in the game, I asked you if that was OK.
And also, I took many of my major contributions and edited them out at the last second. Sorry if you didn't memorize them~

This conversation is over. Take it to my wall if you really want to. Just let the people with actual questions post here.

Nah, this has already been blown out of proportion.

Precious Roy wrote:

When do you expect to have a final product? And who on he dev team is doing what?

Sorry it took so long for me to get to this. We haven't set a release date, as we are almost guaranteed to underestimate the time. When we start building, we'll probably have a rough estimate.

Alright, let's steer away from the argument with a new question:

Do you have any pics of the visuals for the game (as in how it will look in game)?

Well, on the shared google doc that we use as a board/design document, we have a couple of screenshots from fighting games that influenced our design in some way, and a couple of Shadowmancreator's drawings, but we're going to wait until we have a larger supply of concept art before we decide to release anything to the public. As for actual screens of our game, we will try our best to have something built within the next two months (If we haven't at least started building by that time, take me out back and shoot me).

Well, I'm in charge of how the game will look, but I'm waiting to make all that until everything settled out… I don't want to have to scrap something I worked days on because we decided not to put that in the game, or something came up that doesn't allow us to put in in the game.

Also, (and this goes out to everyone, and Im just putting it out there) we ask that you please don't ask about any secrets, or playability, or anything that concerns the actual gameplay;
1. Because that's what secrets are for, to be kept secret.
5. And also because it's not even on the playing table yet, we only have the ideas, and once everything is final, I'll start building the game.

We're also in need of additional programmers and maybe artists. Shad can't do all the technical work by himself, so if you have any prior experience with coding/scripting/Fighter Maker 2002, don't hesitate to volunteer.

This, and a composer, if possible.

So wait… Five button fighter? (Isn't Guilty Gear a four button fighter like all of Arc System's games?)

And will this use full-fledged fighting game input controls like in QCFs/QCBs, HCF/HCBs, DPs, 360's, etc.?

Yes. All of that will be in the game. And Guilty Gear is a five-button fighter. Remember the Dust button. It counts.

So what I'm getting here is that this "project" that has taken "a month" of "blood, sweat, and tears" consists of ninety percent 'ideas we think are good' and ten percent 'screenshots from other things'.

We're in the development phase. Sweat has been shed, but if you want blood and tears, then you'll have to wait a while longer.

WanderingVoiceActor wrote:

Are voice actors still needed for this project?

We're currently working on that. It's not a pressing matter for now, but we'll get to it when we can.

Sorry I couldn't have been participating in the Q & A, I didn't realize you guys made one.
