First off, I've heard more impalement jokes than you'll ever hear. Anyways, Vlad is a male name of Slavic origins (which means that it isn't limited to just Romania), and is sometimes used as the shortened version of Vladislav or Vladimir. It's not entirely limited to Europe, but it's unlikely that you'll find it elsewhere. I hope you've all enjoyed this lecture on names that you'll probably all forget about five minutes from now.
