To find out what was the most popular song in the country the day you were born, click here and then click on the year to go to the data chart for that year. Then match up your birth date with the song and post the video for the song on your post. You don't have to post your birthdate if you don't want to, but just tell us which song it was.

Here's the one that was #1 on my birth date.

Well, as much as I think that Mariah Carey is a very talented artist, I prefer the number-one rock hit at the time which is this timeless song:

Well I do pay attention to the rock charts, and I can also mention the songs that were #1 on both charts as well

Modern Rock Chart (Now Alternative Songs Chart):

Album Rock Chart (Now Mainstream Rock Chart):

Here is where you find out that I'm an oldfag LOL
Billboard top 10

2. Maggie May/Find a Reason to Believe, Rod Stewart
3. It's Too Late/I Feel the Earth Move, Carole King
4. One Bad Apple, Osmonds
5. How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?, Bee Gees
6. Indian Reservation, Raiders
7. Go Away Little Girl, Donny Osmond
8. Take Me Home, Country Roads, John Denver
9. Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me), Temptations
10. Knock Three Times, Dawn

This is going to be one of those threads that reminds me how freaking ancient I am in comparison to the rest of you, isn't it? (Except Daniel Vazquez, who seems to be just a bit older than me.)

Actually, there is a very interesting musical coincidence that happened in the year I was born that I won't explain here for reasons that I also will not share.

So nobody here was born in March of 1988? &troll;

And on the swedish toplist…

'96 sure sucked at music.

The music industry has always sucked and still does. Led Zeppelin IV came out the same year I was born (1971). The album is one of the best-selling albums worldwide. The top song for that year was Joy to the World, Three Dog Night.

Case in point, the Talking Heads video here. I was a big fan of Talking Heads in junior high and high school, but by the time I was in college they had broken up. The song "Sax and Violins" was recorded during a brief reunion of the band when they were asked by film director Wim Wenders to record a song for his film Bis ans Ende der Welt. (Interesting story, Wenders asked a number of popular bands to record a song for the film, produced in 1992 but set in 1999, imagining that they were recording their big hit song of 1999.)

Anyway, knowing that you're one of the older regulars here, coupled with the above facts, makes me feel pretty old.

@Stoffe:

While I'm not an aficionado of rap, the first song seems decent enough to me. As for the second, I actually like The Prodigy--not enough to buy any albums, but enough that I turn up the radio when they're on. I guess it's all personal taste.

Actually, I suppose an issue I have with them is the same I used to have with Dead or Alive: They look punk as fuck, but their music is actually pretty pop-ish. It's like… Oh, I was going to put together a sort of photo collage illustrate my point, but a Google image search did it for me in one picture:

Yeah, it's like that.
