Our family was in Knoxville recently for our Spring Break road trip. We found just the day before that Knoxville had a hockey team known as the Ice Bears(SPHL). Being a family full of hockey freaks, we just had to go. The atmosphere felt a lot different than the NHL games I was accustomed to. The Ice Bears were playing the FireAntz that night. After a period of play, the Antz were up by one.
During the intermission, my dad and I started to walk around the small arena just to see what there was to see(I.E. Harley Davidson Motorcycle Girls). Just as we’re about to go back up to our seats, I spot this man with a Blackhawks jersey saying “LOST A BET” where a player’s name would go. I couldn’t just pass this up. My dad and I started talking to the man. Turns out he is a Penguins fan who actually did lose a bet. He has colleagues in Chicago who put him up to the bet that if the Hawks won the Stanley Cup, he’d have to get that jersey. Low and behold, the Hawks won and he remained a man of his word.
