God, why can't they be nicer to hug? Why must they bite so much?!

There's a macro floating around the Interwebs right now, and my hands are just itching to post it…

Good news, DrPepperfan. For just $7,000 you can have your own domesticated Silver Fox at http://www.sibfox.com/

Credible sources indicate they really are domesticated; a result of a 50 year long breeding program in Russia.

(Not joking, I read this in NatGeo) I confirm the fact that there was a breeding program at some point in time in Russia.

Not sure I agree with you. Silver fockses behave more like dogs… and if behavior determines species (L. Leakey), they are dogs.

Although foxes and dogs are of the Canidae family, silver foxes are Vulpes Vulpes, and dogs are Canis Lupus. Not even sure if they can interbreed (they would have tried that in the breeding experiment). I cannot say that foxes are dogs based solely on behavior.

If behavior determines species, then what to do with all the furries roaming in the 'net?

If it behaves like a dog, it is a dog to me. I don't kare about breeding much.
