I've actually never played it even though I consider myself to be an alpha geek.

Dungeons and dragons is fun as hell. Anyone who says otherwise has never played it. Or played 2nd edition.

There was also a Movie, but it was Nostalgia Critic worthy material.

I only ever played classic battletech but I don't know how close that is to d&d.

I have had some old friends who played it, but they kept saying the newer versions sucked compared to the older versions, the the manual is like a pretty large book too.

I tell myself to never play either WoW or (Now) D&D, because they will obviously be fun, addicting, and take over my life. I hope this hasn't happened to you, County Pimp Christopher.

@ RussianFedora: Lol, any game you play doesn't have to take over your life. DnD has a harder time for such things because it requires you to get together with freinds to play.

Same, but what does “Don’t knock it ’til you try it” mean? What does knocking have to do with anything?

If you knock something, it means you hate it, or you give it grief, as butterinyobread said. "Don't knock it til you try it" was a saying I heard a while back basically meaning, "Don't hate it until you at least try it out first."

I kinda wanna try D&D just so I can say I tried it, but I'm already addicted to Runescape… Perhaps I'll try to get into it on an offline day.
