Hmmm, Internet Addiction…
Obviously everyone here has Internet addiction you d**k.
Now go play somewhere else.

I can't right now, sorry. I'm watching funny internet videos, playing addicting flash games, looking up porn, and commenting to nine other threads. I just don't have the time.

Herc, you know you just essentially flipped off one of the oldest members on KYM through the internet, right?

This is really just unjustified hatred, someone we don't know nor have never met comes in and simply requests that we take a survey to further her own education and we practically tell her to go fuck herself. I think that we should all take the survey and treat this person with respect and we should hear her out.

@Alexya I took the survey but I felt that I was picking one extreme or the other, there was no "middle ground" but overall it was very well put together and I hope you do good in school :)

That makes sense but I don't know to much about psychology and I was wondering if you can tell me why it was one extreme or the other and why the some of the first question were so pessimistic with the closest thing to positive being along the lines of "nothing has changed". Hope all of this isn't to much to ask.

With the extremes I assume ur mostly referring to the last set of questions? Some scales are designed to pick up the tendenies people have. If more options are available many people always choose 'neutral'- which doesnt really provide much information (although many scales do have the option). The first few questions make up a depression scale, which obviously is used to diagnose depression. So 'nothing has changed' will for example score 0 points, while options beyond that will score more (and show higher levels of depression). Hope that helps, if u have any more questions or would like more explanation feel free to email me at the address provided on the survey :)

I'm curious about the last set of questions. I think the wording in particular could be confusing. For instance:

a. Skiing fast down a high mountain slope is a good way to end up on crutches
b. I think I would enjoy the sensations of skiing very fast down a high mountain slope

I don't think I would enjoy skiing, but I think it's a fine pastime for those who do enjoy it and know what they're doing.

Also, there was a question about using hallucinogenics that, while I answered that I would not be interested in taking them, I thought might be a misleading answer based on the previous question about marijuana. The marijuana question asked if you had ever used it, but the hallucinogenics one did not. I have used both marijuana and LSD in the past, but no longer have any interest in either, so due to the wording, I essentially answered the two differently, although I feel the same way about both.

And heck, while I'm ranting about questionable design of that section, I'd also like to point out that the questions seem assume that the user is heterosexual and only knows heterosexuals. I know many people of varying sexual identity, but don't particularly care what someone else's sexual preference is, making at least one of the questions more than a bit confusing.

Anyway, I wish you the best.

Thanks alot :) The last set of questions is a sensation seeking scale, however this is further divided into 4 subscales (the questions are randomized). So this may explain some variation between the questions (like the marijuana & LSD). With regards to the heterosexual issue, that is one of the biggest problems in psychological testing- it doesnt always account for differences in culture etc…
will take all input into account, thanks!
