Notpron and riddle sites

I was wondering how many people have heard of Notpron and/or similar sites. I've seen a handful of them, but I'm not sure if there are enough to be considered a meme per se.

The basic form of such sites is a series of riddles, usually in the form of a picture and perhaps some background music. The solution of each riddle leads you to the next until you've completed the entire "game", level 140 in the case of Notpron.

Any thoughts, including what such an entry should be called if it were to be made?

I could dig up some examples of other sites, (there was one of a different format, but the same sorts of puzzles, called The Dumb Game) but I'm interested in whether people are already familiar with them, not trying to show them off, although that could make for a good JFF thread, maybe.

I'm sensing a community challenge here…

But in all seriousness, I think they probably are widely known as a phenomenon or a type of site, but not necessarily by name.
