Cheesing?

Has there already been an entry for cheesing?

It's basically purposefully exploiting an element of a game to get an easy win. I've heard it used in Starcraft and Destiny forums, but I believe it originated from fighting games like Street Fighter II. If there hasn't already been an entry, would anyone like to help write one?

Cheesin is when someone is standing around smiling like a retard, I've never heard it used in reference to any games in my life. Are there actual examples of this?

I've heard it in reference to games. For instance, the Byzantine Cheese strategy in Civ 5, in which you take tourism beliefs for your religion and get a culture victory in the middle ages. Not too sure if it counts as a meme though, and finding the origin on a term this old might be a pain.

Here's a few discussions about cheesing and an entry for cheesers on Urban Dictionary

During the destiny raid called Crota's end if a member of your party who was the host of the game took their disk out then Crota would permanently enter his vulnerable state and not attack or move. This meant players could easily snipe him with little resistance from his bodyguards. I remember doing this with a friend. Normally killing crota took a very long time as you had to make him vulnerable around 3 times which was tedious.

@Lisa

I actually found an example of this just the other day when searching for help with a video game:

I just cheesed Conquest chapter 21 so hard.

He explained that instead of playing the game how it's intended to be played, he selected only two, fast characters and rushed to the end (as the goal was to simply get all characters to the end alive).

Edit: Damn, mega-ninja'd. Anyways, another response in that used "cheesed" that way again. I'd say it's a legit term.

I heard it a ton when I frequented the Destiny forums back in 2014

Ehh, i don't think i like giving it a full entry on the site but whatever; the expression goes at least as far as 1994/1995, the game Primal Rage has a special effect where a slice of cheese in a prohibition sign (ie. "No cheese") activates when one player attempts to initiate an infinite combo via certain movements, opening a window for the opponent to counteratack.

Video
(btw, the game has some flashing lights, so be warned, in fact there's one just a few seconds before the 7:57 mark i linked to)

I said 1995 because that's the Sega Genesis version and the Arcade version was released the previous year.
