I don't usually suggest political entries, but this one is a fairly notable one that doesn't have entry yet. Please also note that this is a meme Research thread. While I'm fine with moving it to serious debate once entry is made and people wish to continue discussion, the focus should be more about internet spread related to this event. Feel free to post factual inaccuracies, or other problems but make them related to making the entry accurate.

Most people know the basics, but for an overview, on Saturday February 18th at a rally at Orlando-Melbourne International Airport he said, in reference to the European refugee migrant crisis (emphasis added):

"You look at what’s happening in Germany, you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this? Sweden. They took in large numbers, they're having problems like they never thought possible”

Many were curious as to what specific event Trump was referring to, as there is lack of any detail into "what's happening in Sweden" on the previous day. Politifact noted that no real event of interest had occurred on that day and even mentioned that many are comparing this to the Bowling Green Massacre.

Many people, including those from Sweden, were confused. It started the Twitter hash #LastNightInSweden Former Swedish Prime minister Carl Bildt made various tweets in reference to Trump's statements saying there has not been a terrorist attack in Sweden since 1975, thatSweden is a rather pleasant place and, perhaps, most notably, Claiming the Florida county where Trump spoke at had 50% more murders than all of Sweden. The last claim Politifact has a few issues with, but overall found mostly true.

Trump later tweeted a clarification saying "My statement as to what's happening in Sweden was in reference to a story that was broadcast on FoxNews concerning immigrants & Sweden." and with Whitehouse spokesperson saying that Trump's remark about "last night in Sweden" was not actually about "an event last night" but about events in Sweden in general. The Swedish Government has also responded to this

Many have also noted that, while no event of real interest had occurred on that Friday, many feel the the Swedish government is not telling the whole truth about the refugee issue, and downplaying certain issues. While I feel there are many legit issues related to this, and there is certainly no shortage of these, one semi notable thing occurred recently, which I feel merits mention due to it's memetic spread (even if it is minor.)

On February 23rd The O'Reilly Factor on FoxNews had on "Swedish Defense and National Security Advisor Nils Bildt." The issue? Sweden has no such position and the man lacks any connection to the Swedish Government. This has inspired the Twitter hash #NilsBildt where other people or Nils disguised as another person photoshoped into a screenshot from the broadcasts as alleged experts.

I think this has enough spread to denote it's own entry.

Oh great ANOTHER one

As I tried to say in the OP, I'm not personally a fan of the number of Trump memes. In spite of this, it is something I was a little surprised did not have entry, and, considering the level of notably some other Trump memes have, this one I thought could use entry. Disagreement is fine, however, this is meme reaseach, not the comments section or Riff Raff. Make sure your post actually brings up relevant discussion about the proposed entry. The main reason I brought this up now was due to the fabricated Swedish advisor incident on Fox which seemed to be sproting it's own things.

For future reference, do not post comments bemoaning the proposal of an entry in meme research unless you have legitimate criticisms (and expand upon them) for why you believe an entry is not merited.
