Welcome to my completely original thread (DO NOT STEAL), where we pick and discuss the Protags that we just love to love. My picks include:

Kirby

Yusuke Urameshi

and Shulk

What are your picks?

Estelle Bright (Trails in the Sky)

- Funny
- Charismatic
- Upbeat
- Fiercly protective of family & friends
- Kind of an idiot sometimes, but in an endearing way
- Not a "generic sword guy" even though she's the protag of a JRPG
- Personality develops and changes over the story
- Demonstrable increase in maturity
- Also a bit cute I guess

10/10

I 2nd the Shulk notion Shulk is probably my favorite protagonist ever which is very impressive considering he's just a giant cliche, but Shulk and Xenoblade in general serves as a reminder that cliche doesn't have to be bad. There's a reason things become cliche, it's because there are some good examples and everything strives to be that again. Shulk is that to me along with the supporting cast.

Here are five I could list off of the top of my head at the moment:

Capt. Jean-Luc Picard (of the U.S.S. Enterprise)
Favorite captain. (Best captain.) (Come at me, Kirk fanboys.)

J.C. Denton
Put on a trenchcoat and fight some conspiracies… (and be a bit of a snarkastic ass while you're at it, too.)

Lt. Cmdr. (insert name) Shepard
Particularly fond of playing him/her as Paragon (with a bit of Renegade sprinkled in, of course.)

MCPO John-117
Been one of my favorites ever since I was a lad.

Blake Belladonna
(As for favorite deuteragonist, that's a different story. Pyrrha)

Some of my favs were already used by others but sticking with characters not said.

John Constantine. My favorite snarky, cynical, chain smoking paranormal investigator and occultist who uses his wits to manipulate and trick both humans and demons alike.

Adam Jensen. Same reason as J.C. Denton from above

Smart but eccentric Fed agent investigating the paranormal and a possible government conspiracy relating to aliens (basically like Jensen and Denton but without any augmentation).
