I'm deleting threads, and new ones are popping up every 1-2 minutes. Is the limit ignored if the last posted thread is deleted?

That's a good hypothesis if the spam was as frequent as it was before James implemented the limit.

If that's the case, then there'd need to be a moderator with ban powers on call to delete the spammer as soon as the thread was deleted. In which case, I'd suggest going into the IRC and seeing if someone is awake who has ban powers.

Or moderators without ban powers would have to play at "damage control" by allowing one thread, posting the same message in that thread warning users and lurkers (e.g., Please do not post in this thread or visit the link posted,) and deleting the older of the two threads when another one is created.

Following the hypothesis that having the thread deleted nullifies the time limit and assuming the ones posting the threads are idiots. If a Forum Mod with no ban powers is the only person available to deal with it, don't delete the thread (and then allow them to create a new one), instead edit the first post to make it read "Please Delete, Spammer" or something similar (like your message example). Kill the message, yet keep the threads out in the open so they can still be banned while disallowing them to post more.

Ok, so I brought that hypothesis to the test and came to 2 conclusions.

1. Mods are immune:

So yeah, I couldn't do this alone. Therefore I requested some help and came to the following conclusion:

2. Deleting a thread confirmed for resetting the timer. I asked a user (<3 Liche) to make a thread, have me delete it, and then attempt to make a second thread afterwards. He was capable of making another thread after I deleted the first, regardless of the timer.

So in case of having no ban mods online, I suggest going with editing and locking for the Forum Mods. That, or we rush an upgrade batch so we can hand out more banhammers.

Thanks for the heads up.

It should be shut down, it's damn crazy up in here! I just got to the forums, damn is this awful.

I think the best part is, they're advertising escorts in Mumbai. They're missing their target market by a very large margin. Guess that's why they spammed so much.

What the hell is Mumbai, and why does it need escorts?
