Easter 4/20 was the simultaneous observation of Easter, the Christian holiday on which Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead, and 4/20, an international counterculture holiday for cannabis enthusiasts, on April 20th, 2014.

Background

The concurrence of Easter and 4/20 is a relatively rare phenomenon that will happen a total of 33 times in the next millennium. The coincidental overlap of Easter and 4/20 in the calendar year 2014 was brought up as early as on September 4th, 2013, when Redditor heyrebel submitted a photograph of a wide-eyed bunny with a marijuana cigarette in its mouth in an /r/trees post titled "Easter is on 4/20 this year."

Notable Developments

On February 26th, 2014, the novelty Twitter account @420Easter was launched. On April 2nd, BuzzFeed ran an article titled "Easter and 4/20 Are On The Same Day This Year" with a variety of 420Easter-themed DIY candy products. On April 13th, 2014, mentions of "420 easter" and "easter 420" on Twitter began to rise dramatically in volume, reaching more than 15,000 mentions on April 18th and peaking at over 130,000 mentions on April 19th, the day before the holidays.

Mashup Parodies

On April 19th, @TotallyWhiteMove tweeted a photoshopped image of Snoop Dogg dressed in an Easter Bunny costume (shown below). Within 48 hours, the tweet garnered more than 6,100 retweets and 6,800 favorites.
