About
4:19 4:20 refers to a series of four-pane exploitable images. The top layer of the image features a clock set to 4:19 and an image of neutral object. Below, this image set is another featuring the clock reading 4:20 and the same image but with a humorous expression, indicating that they are now changed. While the image originally meant that the change indicated the meme's was under the influence of drugs, later variations subvert that expectation.
Origin
The earliest known version of the meme was posted in August 2013 by Tumblr user mynameismcavoy. The now-deleted post[1] featured a Facebook showing clock reading "4:19" next to a picture of an adolescent boy. The bottom image shows the time at "4:20" and the boy looking happy and holding up finger guns.
