About

Angry Grandpa^[1] was the nickname given to Charles Green,^[2] an elderly man known for appearing on The Angry Grandpa Show, a YouTube series co-hosted by Green's son Michael "Pickleboy" Green^[3][4] and Bridgette "Princess" West^[5].

Origin

In 2007, the first Angry Grandpa video was uploaded to Break, in which Green is shown yelling at his family after discovering they began opening presents without him on Christmas day (shown below).

Spread

On June 19th, 2010, the first video was uploaded to TheAngryGrandpaShow YouTube channel, in which Green curses about YouTube (shown below). Within seven years, the video received upwards of 550,000 views and 1,700 comments.

On December 9th, 2014, the show uploaded a video titled "Angry Grandpa Destroys PS4," in which Green destroys a PS4 console and a coffee table for not getting Christmas cookies (shown below, left). Within three years, the video garnered more than 30 million views and 74,000 comments. On July 10th, 2015, the channel released a prank video titled "Angry Grandpa's New House," which received over 13.8 million views and 41,800 comments over the next several years (shown below, right).

Death

On December 10, 2017, Green passed away in his home due to high levels of ammonia brought on by liver cirrhosis. That day, a video announcing his passing was uploaded to The Angry Grandpa Show channel (shown below).

That day, Redditor Ipad207 submitted the video to /r/videos,^[6] where it gathered more than 560 points (74% upvoted) and 100 comments in the next 24 hours. Following the announcement, various Twitter users posted tributes in Green's memory (shown below).
