Amputee girl started out as a troll on the popular anime forum GaiaOnline. While popularity has since declined, it became a very popular meme in 09'. The thread title would often be misleading such as "which of these girls would you date" or "which of these girls do you think X?" However upon entering the thread you realize all the pictures are of amputee teenage girls always missing one leg. Why its funny? I dunno. But it was everywhere.

Soon afterward pictures of a girl in all pink showed up named "Amber Amputee". Gaia and 4chan exploded with photoshops of her and various funny edits.
