Anne Hathaway Cannibalism Copypasta or Like Police Didn't Find Human Remains and Evidence of Cannibalism in Her LA Home is a copypasta derived from a viral tweet posted in June 2022 falsely claiming that police found human remains and evidence of cannibalism in a home Anne Hathaway sold in 2013. The tweet became a prevalent copypasta over the following months where users replace Anne Hathaway with another celebrity or character.

Origin

On June 24th, 2022, Twitter^[1] user @ryvnlovve posted a photograph of actress Anne Hathaway on the cover of Elle France, gaining over 305,000 likes and 22,000 retweets in roughly two months. On June 25th, Twitter user @hotpriestt retweeted the post, writing, "every tweet about Anne Hathaway going viral like police didn't find human remains and evidence of cannibalism in her LA home that she sold in 2013😭" The tweet went has since been deleted, but gained over 400,000 likes and 22,000 retweets according to Elle Australia.^[2] On June 26th, Twitter^[3] user @chismosavirus posted screenshots of the deleted tweet, along with an additional related response (shown below, left and right).

On the same day, @hotpriestt commented under the deleted tweet^[4] claiming the tweet was a "24 hour sociological study on spreading misinformation online and was conducted by Harvard University," gaining over 10,000 likes in two months (shown below, left). That day, Twitter^[5] user @malinahdoll retweeted an image of a Bratz doll, writing, "every tweet about lola going viral like police didn’t find human remains and evidence of cannibalism in her LA home that she sold in 2013 😭" (shown below, right, click to expand). This is the earliest known use of the tweet as a copypasta.

The copypasta became increasingly popular over the following months. On June 26th, 2022, Twitter^[6] user @hiraethcas posted a version of the meme about Jensen Ackles, gaining over 600 likes in two months. On the same day, Newsweek reported on the viral tweet.^[7] On July 7th, Twitter^[8] user @ivygrowns posted a version of the copypasta about Noah Schnapp from Stranger Things, gaining over 131,000 likes and 8,400 retweets in a month (shown below). On July 9th, @hotpirestt retweeted^[9] the post, writing, "i need to travel back in time and tell past me to take my meds so this sentence can never plague twitter," gaining over 39,000 likes in a month.
