On October 18th, 2024, the video music of APT. has been premiered on one of Blackpink member YouTube[1] channel, Rosé. The video received more than 758 million views in two months (shown below).

Spread

Days later after it's release, the song gained popular with parodies and edits. For example on October 31st, 2024, YouTube[2] user 화성인 릴도지 uploaded North Korea parody version of the song. The video received more than 19 million views in two months (shown below).

On November 14th, 2024, YouTube[3] user Hotra uploaded an edit of the song by adding Oiiaoiia Cat remix. The video received more than 2.6 million views in one month (shown below).

Controversies

On October 28th, 2024, Koreaboo[4] outlet news published an article about the Malaysia Ministry of Health has been banned the song in the country, claimed "the song has normalized the western culture which against the eastern culture". However, turns out the claim was hoax after the Ministry on their official Twitter / X[5] account @KKMPutrajaya uploaded a post clarifying it (shown below).

KKMalaysia @KKMPutrajaya The Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia wishes to clarify that any statements regarding this article attributed to MOH have not been issued or authorized by the Government of Malaysia. ... In this regard, we would like to highlight that the posting was made by an entity which is not linked to the Ministry in any form whatsoever. Please be cautious of unverified information circulating online, as it can lead to confusion and misinformation among the members of the public. Hence, we encourage the public to rely on official MOH channels for verified information and updates on public health matters.

On December 21st, 2024, Indonesian band Radja uploaded the song titled "APA SIH" that have similarity to "APT." to their YouTube[6] channel. The video received more than 1.5 million views in two weeks (shown below).

However, Indonesian users didn't find it as parody, but straight up plagiarism. On December 30th, 2024, Twitter[7] user @IndoPopBase uploaded a post about the song was deleted on Spotify due to plagiarism strike. The post received more than 29,000 likes in one week (shown below).
