About
COVID Magnet Vaccines is the main message of a viral video uploaded to Twitter in early June 2021 depicting a conspiracy theorist talking about how after receiving her COVID-19 vaccine she has since become magnetic. She attempts to demonstrate this with two different objects, including a key, with expected results. The video was also inspired by the overall adoption of the conspiracy that coronavirus vaccines make someone magnetized, later inspiring the "COVID magnet challenge" online.
Origin
On June 9th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @TylerJoelb tweeted the video, receiving 22,800 likes and 5.5 million views in six days (shown below). In the tweet including the video, he also gave some background knowledge about the person, describing her as a nurse.
Wow. An anti-vaccine nurse in Ohio tried to prove the Vaccines Cause Magnetism theory in an state legislative committee. The demonstration did not go to plan pic.twitter.com/0ubELst4E8

Immediately, within the same Twitter thread, people began responding to the video with incredulous reactions. Notably, Twitter[2] user @djacob94 took a screenshot from the video itself and inquired into the look given by a background witness to the woman demonstrating her alleged magnetism, gaining 800 likes in six days (shown below).
Spread
The video and implications from it began to spread quickly after the initial upload. The subject of vaccine magnetism became a news story covered by Reuters,[5] CNN and BBC[4] news. The Marvel comics character Magneto became a trending topic on Twitter, as people started to make references similar to the Negro Solstice hoax in 2020 in having their magnetism powers unlocked because of the vaccine. This can be seen in the Tweet[3] by @georgehahn where he claims to be fully vaxxed and has a key sticking to his forehead, which generated 77,000 likes in six days (shown below).
