Dessert Is Gay refers to jokes made about a tweet which argued that men ordering dessert was a "red flag" because ordering dessert is a "female" thing to do, with many jokes using the Fellas, Is It Gay? template.

Origin

On April 12th, 2020, Twitter user @ms_fishscale^[1] posted, "a guy ordering dessert on a date is a red flag for me. that’s a female thing to do fr." The tweet gained over 1,500 retweets and 4,100 likes (shown below). She also posted, "if a guy is on a date with a woman, the woman should be the only one asking for appetizers and dessert. men eat MEALS. like seriously. you can just taste some of whatever i ordered" and "i would seriously rather a nigga order 2 meals than to order an appetizer before his meal. if you dat damn hungry Face with rolling eyes you look sassy orderin a spinach dip."

Spread

The tweets led to mockery from Twitter users who thought the argument was ridiculous. Users @tom_usher_^[2] and @craigSJ^[3] both made "Fellas, Is It Gay?" jokes about the tweets, gaining over 820 and 1,800 likes, respectively (shown below).

Others made various jokes about the argument. For example, Twitter user @MacDoesIt^[4] made a joke with a picture of SpongeBob, gaining over 38,000 retweets and 248,000 likes (shown below, left). User @scarlet4urma^[5] posted a joke that gained over 13,000 retweets and 90,000 likes (shown below, right). Jokes were covered by Junkee^[6] and Pride.^[7]
