Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, is an East Asian holiday that celebrates the beginning of the new year according to the Chinese calendar. Starting on the first new moon of the year, the holiday is seen as a time of prosperity and good luck, with each year named after an animal on the Eastern Zodiac.
