I Should Dip My Balls in Sulfuric Acid refers to a series of memes in which various characters, particularly Jetstream Sam and the rest of the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance cast, ponder, promise, express an irresistible urge and describe the consequences of dipping their testicles in acid. The meme is closely connected with the Jetstream Sam Thinking format, though it also uses other reaction GIFs.
Origin
On September 1st, 2021, Redditor[1] BeanBlooper posted a GIF caption based on a GIF of singer Mario Judah captioned, "Me resisting the urge to dip my balls in sulfuric acid during chemistry class." The post gained over 2,400 upvotes in the /r/shitposting subreddit in 10 months (shown below).
On January 11th, 2022, Redditor[2] LeoWeebK27 posted a GIF caption based on a GIF of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance character Jetstream Sam rubbing his chin in thought, captioning it, "I should dip my balls in sulfuric acid." The post gained over 15,900 upvotes in the /r/whenthe subreddit in four months (shown below).

Later on the same day, Tenor[3] user kau_____ reposted the GIF to the site, from where it spread to Discord by being posted on various servers.
On January 27th, 2022, Redditor[4] ha-ha-funny posted another GIF caption with Jetstream Sam referencing the first GIF, with the post gaining over 460 upvotes in the /r/whenthe subreddit (shown below, left). Later on the same day, Redditor[5] LanDest021 posted a GIF caption that demonstrated the vast spread of the "I should dip my balls in sulfuric acid" meme on Discord. The post gained over 1,100 upvotes in the /r/ontheledgeandshit subreddit in four months (shown below, right).
Starting early February 2022, the premise of dipping one's testicles in sulfuric acid gained virality as source material for memes, most notably GIF captions featuring Jetstream Sam and other Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance characters. For example, on February 3rd, 2022, Tenor[6] user BRUHCITYPOLICE posted one such GIF caption (shown below, left). On February 7th, 2022, Tenor[7] user vievien posted a GIF caption that responded to that meme (shown below, right).
From February through March 2022, memes exploring the concept of submerging one's testicles into sulfuric acid continued being posted online, primarily on Tenor for further use on Discord, and in Reddit's /r/whenthe GIF caption subreddit.
