"My Way" is a 1969 song by Frank Sinatra. The song has been used in several animated fan videos, song remixes and parodies, and has been used in various AI song covers.
Origin
Frank Sinatra's My Way was released on vinyl record in March of 1969.[1] The song was remastered in 2008 and posted to YouTube (shown below) on December 12th, 2018, where it received over 153 million views in over four years.
Spread
On June 14th, 2017, voice actor Greg Baldwin[2] posted a cover of the song to YouTube using Aku's voice from Samurai Jack. The cover video (shown below, left) received over 359,000 views in over six years. On June 5th, 2017, YouTube animator TerminalMontage posted an animatic of Greg's song cover using an animation of a defeated Aku singing the song. The video (shown below, right) received over 690,000 views in over six years.
On the third part of the 60th episode of Team Four Star's Dragon Ball Z Abridged series,[3] which first premiered on September 14th, 2018, Perfect Cell (voiced by Takahata101) sings a cover of My Way as he is annihilated by Gohan's Kamehameha blast. The episode (shown below) received over 18 million views in over five years.
AI Song Covers
The song has also been covered by using various AI-generated voices. On May 13th, 2023, YouTube user Bruh[4] posted an AI cover of the song using Squidward Tentacles' voice from SpongeBob SquarePants.. The AI song cover (shown below, left) received over 1.3 million views in over seven months. On May 29th, 2023, YouTube user NeedlemouseCEC posted an AI cover of the song using Luigi's voice from Super Mario Bros. The AI song cover (shown below, right) received over 269,000 views in over six months.
On May 31st, 2023, BidenWasTaken posted an AI song cover using jschlatt's voice. The AI cover (shown below) received over 385,000 views in over six months.
On December 15th, 2023, streamer jschlatt posted a YouTube video (shown below, left) stating that he was getting tired of his voice being used for AI song covers, and decided to record himself singing Frank Sinatra's "My Way" in response. He then posted his song cover in a separate YouTube video on the same day.[5] The song cover video (shown below, right) received over 831,000 views in one day.
