North West's Painting refers to an oil painting done by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter North West at the age of 7. Many refused to believe the painting was made by a 7-year-old, resulting in memes and reactions on Twitter in February of 2021.
Origin
On February 8th, 2021, Kim Kardashian shared a photograph of her daughter North West's oil painting, captioned, "My little artist North" to her Instagram Story,[7] as well as a photo of North holding the painting (shown below, left and right).[1]
Spread
The painting spread across social media, inspiring doubt in many who saw it, who assumed the painting showed too much skill to be a 7-year-old's (examples shown below). The story received widespread media attention.[8][9][10]
On Twitter, many users reacted to North West's painting with memes, often comparing North West's art to their own (example shown below, left)[4] or ironically claiming famous paintings were done by North (example shown below, right).[5]
On February 9th, @you.will.never.know.123 posted a video to TikTok [2] directly asking Kim for proof and accusing her of lying about the painting, garnering over 2 million views in a day (shown below, left). Later that day, @camrynfred posted a Duet to her TikTok[3] claiming to be North West's art teacher's daughter, offering photographic proof and defending Kim and North, garnering over 460,000 views in a comparable span of time (shown below, right).

On the same day, Kim Kardashian posted a statement to her Instagram Story expressing anger over people doubting North's artwork, clarifying that she's in an advanced oil painting class (shown below, left). She then posted a screenshot of a news headline implying North didn't do the painting as an example (shown below, right).
Over the course of the day, Kim made a number of other posts related to the painting, including a photo of a similar painting done by one of North's classmates (shown below, left) and an image showing some of Kanye West's old artwork (shown below, middle). Later that day she posted a screenshot of the news headline that doubted the painting, showing that it had been changed (shown below, right).
On that day, "Bob Ross" trended on Twitter due to the story.[6]
