About

Eddy Malou is a citizen of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who became infamous in the french-speaking web for his apparently inconsistent, random, absurd and off-topic speeches, in which he claims to be the “first scientist of the entire Democratic Republic of Congo”, and calls for the “Congolexicomatization of the market laws”.

Online History

Eddy Malou first appeared on a YouTube video, called “Fou-rire dans les rues de Kinshasa” (“giggles in the streets of Kinshasa”) around April 2013 before being removed a few days later, and eventually being re-uploaded on May 25th[1]. The said video featured an interview of Eddy Malou by a journalist asking his opinion about roller-skating, probably for a vox pop interview. Eddy started then a memorable speech, going totally off-topic and using random, overly complex, and often totally made-up words.

The interview can roughly be translated into this:

Eddy: Hello Mr. Fidel, the name of my father is the name of the dad of the Republic's scientist, Eddy Malou, African compared rebirth, the “RENAC”.
Journalist: And what’s your name?
E.: Eddy Malou, the first scientist in the entire Democratic Republic of Congo, EDDY MALOU, E – double D – Y – Dash – M – A – L – O – U. It means, impose the strength to the Valium. This means, the esteem of KNOWLEDGE, people who know lots of things, and crystallize, impose, innnn…-intention that in the entire Democratic Republic of Congo so we can have the CONGOLEXICOMATIZATION of the market laws proper to the congolese people, please.
J.: Mr Eddy, we’re talking about a sport topic, what do you know about roller-skating?
E.: Well, yes, that’s obvious! When we talk about this whole point of view, it’s the activism to what we call the dynamic of sports. This means accenting on… the income we can gain from this, this is a problem of G.T.O., General Theory of Organization, how can we accomplish… to accept this challenge, because, for instance, in Brazil: aside from those vegans there, vegan-ism, we have this same kind of climatology…
J.: Yes, but we’re talking about roller-skating!
E.: About relays?
J.: About roller-skating.
E.: Rollers. It means, when we talk about those relays, we see what I call the system of computerized technicity. That means it’s… systematic…
J.: For you, roller-skating is not a sport?
E.: Yes! It alludes to. Because when we talk about sports, we see the nuclearity. It’s the Man that goes to the dynamic…
J.: But the sport, roller-skating, do you know it?
E.: Yes! It’s obvious! It alludes to the re-dynamism of the Man who has to ensure what we call the systematic of orthodoxization. That means, the REFLEXOLOGY, like in reflexes.
J.: Do you know how to play this sport?
E.: Yes, but now it’s time for relaxing. As such. When we talk about relaxing, the five senses must run. We’re dealing with what we call Uposmy that must be potentialist under this angle, that’s obvious! When we talk about rollers, we talk about alluding to computerize the dynamitial essence, towards humanism.
J.: Thank you very much.

As Eddy’s popularity grew up online, other videos showing similar interviews of him began to appear on YouTube:

"Mais oui c'est clair!"

"Mais oui c’est clair!" (“Well, yes, that’s obvious”) is a catchphrase quoted by Eddy Malou in his infamous speech about the “congolexicomatization”. Due to its apparent nonsense, the sentence became widely used in the French-speaking Internet as a reaction image to mock any form of apparently nonsensical or absurd behavior our speeches online.

“Congolexicomatisation”

“Congolexicomatisation” is a word made up by Eddy Malou in his first video. This term became viral and highly mocked and parodied in the French-speaking internet for appearing ridiculously complex and random.
