Justin Schiele is a TikTok user who grew popular with his "Can I Hit It With A Hammer" series, in which he bangs a hammer against something to see if it breaks. Schiele's videos have garnered millions of views on TikTok and media coverage.

History

Schiele posted his first TikTok video on March 22nd, 2020.[1] He did not upload his first "Can I Hit It With A Hammer?" video until February 12th, 2021 gaining over 2 million views, his first video to crack 1 million views (shown below).

Over the following weeks, Schiele uploaded many more episodes in his series, with many gaining millions of videos (example shown below, left). To date, his most popular video shows him hitting a shower door with a hammer, which surprisingly does not break. The video has over 13 million views as of February 26th, 2021.

Schiele has clarified that he is not hitting his own things with a hammer but is rather a construction worker in the midst of a demolition project.[3]

Online Presence

As of February 26th, 2021, Schiele has over 512,000 followers on TikTok.[2] His videos have been covered by Junkee,[3] who wrote:

"While it’s all just so incredibly stupid and sort feels like a show plucked right from Rick and Morty’s inter-dimensional cable channel, some of Justin’s hits are actually pretty surprising… Thanks to Justin’s ability to portray the natural awkward energy of every high school presentation ever, Justin Schiele has already managed to gain half a million followers on TikTok in the few short weeks he’s been doing his Can I Hit It With A Hammer? series."

His videos have also circulated on Twitter. User @DannyVegito reposted one of Schiele's videos, gaining over 20,000 retweets and 144,000 likes (shown below).
