What's The 'Running All Over The Place' And 'Shi Is Bubonic' Meme? Chandler's Cringe 'Coworker' Rap Song Explained

There's a rap song going viral on TikTok right now, known for the lyrics, "Running all over the place, blue in the face, looking like Sonic," and, "Shi is bubonic."
The man in the viral video is named Chandler Matkins. He's got red hair and a red beard, which made some think that he looks like well-known Twitch streamer CaseOh.
In the video, Chandler Matkins is seen rapping in a dark room, putting his heart and soul into these bars. Unfortunately for him, a lot of people are laughing at him. The clip has become the subject of absurd brainrot memes this week as it's continued spreading.
So, who is Chandler Matkins? What's the song he's rapping and why has it become a meme? Let's explain.

What's The 'Running All Over The Place' And 'Shi Is Bubonic' Song?
The original song is called "BIG BODY BROTHERS" by Billy Marchiafava. It features a rapper named Chandler Matkins on it who often just goes by Chandler on stage.
The official music video was shared at the end of last month, showing both dudes rapping in a hot tub and in front of a pizzeria. At the 40-second mark is when Chandler raps the iconic "Running all over the place" line.
A few days before the music video dropped, Chandler debuted it on his TikTok, posting a short clip of him rapping the "Running all over the place" lyric in a dark room.
It gained over five million views in three weeks, but it didn't become a major meme until this past weekend.

What Are The 'Running All Over The Place' And 'Shi Is Bubonic' Lyrics?
For copypasta use and reenactments with "99% accuracy," here are the lyrics of Chandler's now iconic verse:
Running all over the place, blue in the face, looking like Sonic.
Got up on stage around nine, and the next day they called it "iconic."
In between that, I was off of some tonic, vodka and lime, and a pack of the chronic.
Bring death to a beat, shi is bubonic.
Who Is Chandler Matkins?
Chandler Matkins is a rapper from Richmond, Virginia who's no stranger to virality. Last year, the audio for his song "NOTHIN' TO IT" inspired a viral TikTok sound with over 100,000 posts so far.
Since then, he's snowballed his fanbase and has his scope set on nationwide tours and album sales.
In an interview with TheRichmondSeen, Chandler talked about his love for hip-hop and artists like Kendrick Lamar. The interview is from earlier this month when he was set to perform in his hometown.
On TikTok, he boasts over 888,000 followers. A similar headcount is logged on his Instagram page.

How Did 'Running All Over The Place' And 'Shi Is Bubonic' Become A Meme?
About a month after Chandler posted his snippet, a TikToker named @fart.smella3000 decided to speed it up and add absurd CapCut effects, proclaiming in text overlay, "TS so ahh."

A slew of similar videos followed in the coming days, showing that a large portion of people were not into Chandler's rhymes.
One recurring joke was calling Chandler's song, "Coworker music," playing on the stereotype that "coworkers" often have aggressively normal and cringey tastes. The idea of a coworker saying, "I got a great song" and playing Chandler's music sends a shiver down the spines of many, apparently.

The tone of these memes is awfully brianrotted. Random CapCut effects add visual snow and slang terms like "ICL TS PMO" and "so friggin' tuff" devolve the trend further, intentionally making little to no sense, even for those who are chronically online.
Overall, the joke seems to be on Chandler for thinking that he was really spitting on this track, and the memes make fun of Chandler's imagined fanbase of men from middle America and the American South.
Plus, for some reason, streamer CaseOh is catching strays in this trend because it's undoubtedly his doppelganger rapping the verse.
