About
Sleepy Hollow is an American fantasy drama television series that follows Ichabod Crane, a former Revolutionary War soldier who comes back to life in the 21st century, and Lieutenant Abbie Mills, a police officer in the small town of Sleepy Hollow, as they hunt and defeat supernatural creatures. Upon its premiere on Fox in September 2013, the show quickly developed a large online following, particularly on Tumblr.
Premise
The series follows Ichabod Crane, a man who was killed on the battle field by the headless horseman during the American Revolutionary War, as he wakes from the dead in the small town of Sleepy Hollow in the 21st century. He joins forces with Sleepy Hollow police officer Abbie Mills, who lost her mentor to the headless horseman, to hunt him and prevent any other horsemen of the apocalypse from rising.
History
Sleepy Hollow was created by Phillip Iscove, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Len Wiseman as a modern retelling of Washington Irving's 1820 short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and premiered on Fox on September 16th, 2013.[1] Its first season contained 13 episodes, with the season finale airing on January 20th, 2014. It was renewed for a second 13 episode season on October 3rd.[2]
Reception
Sleepy Hollow's first season earned a 7.9 on IMBD and a 65 on Metacritic[3]. The season premiere had 10.1 million viewers, while the season finale had 7.5 million viewers.[4][5] It was nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV drama in 2014. In the media, the show has been praised by the critics for its ethnically diverse cast.

Fandom
Fans of Sleepy Hollow are often referred to as "Sleepyheads." Popular fan run Tumblr blogs include fuckyeahsleepyhollow[10], sleepyhollowfox[11], and 250yearslater.[12] As of January 2014 their are over 200 Sleepy Hollow fics on Fanfic.net[13] and over 10,000 fan art submission on DeviantArt.[14] The fandom's most popular ship is Ichabbie (Ichabod and Abbie).
Orlando Jones
Actor Orlando Jones, who portrays Captain Frank Irving, the county's police captain and an ally of the main characters, has become well-known for his regular online interactions with the fans of the show and participation in Tumblr fandoms in general.[16] As of January 2014, Jones' Twitter account[8] has over 102,000 followers. He also maintains a the Tumblr theorlandojones[9] where he frequently reblogs fan art. In an interview with BuzzFeed at the 2013 New York Comic Con, Jones even approved a ship art proposal that would pair his character Frank Irving with the Headless Horseman.
