Overview
That's Not My Neighbor is an indie horror video game by developer Nacho Sama in which players take on the role of a doorman tasked with determining whether or not residents of an apartment building are doppelgangers, choosing to either let them in or turn them away. The game was released in February 2024 on Itch.io, mobile and for free on browsers. It garnered a significant fandom over the following months, resulting in fan art, memes and a fan song titled "Open the Door," which inspired a TikTok trend in which characters lip dub to the lyrics.
History
On February 23rd, 2024, That's Not My Neighbor was released on Itch.io,[1] mobile and the thatsnotmyneighbor[2] website, on which the game can be played for free in a browser. Similar in concept to Papers, Please, the game puts players in the role of a doorman who must examine apartment residents' identifications, appearances and documents to determine whether or not to allow them into the building. The game takes place in an alternate 1955 where Doppelgangers are on the rise (full gameplay video shown below).
he Doppelganger Detection Department (D.D.D.) needs you!
There is a vacancy for the doorman position in your building and since you need the money and can't find a job you have no choice.
It's 1955 and for unknow reasons doppelganers are more common than normal, so the D.D.D. has taken action on the matter.
Your job will be to allow or deny the entry of the subjects who request entry to the building, it seems easy, but be careful, you can't overlook any detail because you could be food for doppelgangers.
