About
Taxxad, also referred as Taxadd or just Taxad, refers to a series of montages mocking the then Brazilian minister of economy Fernando Haddad, superimposing his face over various celebrities and movie posters along with a caption referencing taxes.[1]
Origin
The meme started in response to the approbation of the Tax Reform in 2024 and a rise in taxes both before and as result of said reform, resulting from the Lula government 's plans to increase taxes in order to raise money collection.
Spread
In July 16, 2024, the meme gained worldwide notoriety after a montage with Fantastic Four member Human Torch, with Haddad's face and the caption "Human Tax" was exhibited on a panel on the Times Square in New York.[2] In the same month the website Taxxad Coin was opened, featuring a "Taxometer" counting the amount of money collected by the government through taxes.
