Who Remembers This Game? or Carpet Water Reese's Rat Smack refers to a trend on TikTok where users showcase absurd made-up games with abstract rules involving pouring water onto a carpet and moving various objects around in the mess, meant to confuse viewers. The trend began in late October 2021 and became popularized throughout November as users created new variants of the game and acted like the games exist to keep the trend going and troll unknowing viewers.
Origin
Around October 28th, 2021, now-deleted TikToker[1] @cheesesniffer1 posted a video under an original sound titled "carpet water reeses rat smack" where they pour water onto a carpet, put a Reese's cup on the wet patch, smack it with a bat then push a toy rat wearing cowboy boots through the Reese's cup, pushing it away. The video gained an unknown number of views before being removed. It was Duetted by numerous TikTokers,[2] including @kalethebean on October 28th in a video where she pretends as if she knows about the game, gaining over 6.3 million views in two weeks (shown below).

In late October 2021, a number of other TikTokers Duetted the video pretending like they already knew about the game. By early November, TikTokers began posting videos showcasing similar fictional games, often with on-screen text reading "who remembers this game." For example, on November 1st, TikToker[3] @f1dt posted a version of the trend, gaining over 5.4 million views in a week (shown below, left). On November 3rd, TikToker[4] @kyleistook posted a version of the trend, gaining over 1.2 million views in five days (shown below, right).
