Young Boy Named Brandon Interprets 'Let's Go Brandon' Signs As Personal Encouragement, Prompting President Biden To Write Him A Letter

In a wholesome viral story this week, Brandon, a 9-year-old autistic boy from Minnesota, went on a trip with his family to Texas last spring where he saw several Let's Go Brandon signs in a trailer park and interpreted them as encouragement to face his fears.
Since that trip, Brandon purportedly learned how to swim, took the training wheels off his bike and went to the rodeo. His mother then wrote a book about his experiences called Brandon Spots His Sign, which ended up in the hands of President Joe Biden. After apparently being moved by the story, the President then wrote a heartfelt letter to young Brandon about his tale.
How it started: March 2022 we were at an RV park in Houston when my son Brandon spotted #LetsGoBrandon flags and thought folk were cheering for him
How it's going: May 2022 we wrote the best selling #autism children's book Brandon Spots His Sign and got a letter from @POTUS! pic.twitter.com/xSkgHciUGx— Sheletta Brundidge (@ShelettaIsFunny) June 9, 2022
It made me cry to see my son Brandon read a letter from @POTUS cause just six years ago, when he was initially diagnosed with #autism, he couldn't talk, look at me or respond to his name. Today he's got a best selling book and his own fan base cheering him on. #LetsGoBrandon pic.twitter.com/TE3Jh1nvfb

Since last year, “Let’s go Brandon” has become a right-wing catchphrase and meme used to mock President Biden. It originates from an incident at a NASCAR race, when a reporter misheard “Fuck Joe Biden” as “Let’s go Brandon.” Opponents of President Biden then embraced the phrase ironically, chanting it at rallies, printing it on merchandise and using it to express anger at Biden online.
Let’s go Brandon! My mom gets so mad every time she gets gas. 😡😡😡😡 pic.twitter.com/BvhHpJxWnm

Remember when they were saying "Let's go Brandon" and it was code for "I take livestock medication"?

The story of young Brandon was covered in some local papers this week but gained considerable momentum when the Twitter account @rightwingcope tweeted images of the story and sent it viral.
Unironically one of the most wholesome stories I’ve seen recently pic.twitter.com/AQNEpPPMPP

After receiving the letter earlier this week, Brandon recorded a thank you message to the President and shared it on Twitter yesterday.
That letter that
POTUS sent my son was so personal. It wasn't a form letter. He had read the book and identified with my son's story because he stuttered too as a kid. My son was so encouraged that
JoeBiden reached out to him. He had a little message of appreciation… pic.twitter.com/HSpLjhduI6— Sheletta Brundidge (@ShelettaIsFunny) June 9, 2022
Many online congratulated Brandon and his mom, Sheletta Brundidge, as the story was picked up by media outlets and trended on social platforms.
This momma with kids on the spectrum is proud of Brandon and his mother for turning hate into something as beautiful as he is! https://t.co/Nj7OPdcA5i

Sheletta Brundidge explained that she doesn’t plan on explaining the real meaning of “Let’s Go Brandon” to her son until he is grown. In replies to tweets praising the book, Brundidge said she is glad for the encouragement her son has received from the slogan and hopes his story has given the slogan a new meaning.
Like I told my friend @CathyWurzer, we makes lemonade out of lemons over here. Instead of trying to explain original intent of those #LetsGoBrandon flags, I just let my sweet autistic son think that an entire RV park full of folks were cheering for him… https://t.co/4omIBU7c5Z

Let my son Brandon see somebody with a #LetsGoBrandon tattoo if you want to, he's gonna walk right up to 'em and tell 'em how good he's doing in school and how much @POTUS loves his new #autism children's book and will likely give them an autograph copy. pic.twitter.com/AmZMWcJCAZ
