When he's not moonlighting as one of Twitter's premier posters, Greg Kelly hosts a news show on Newsmax where he espouses conservative talking points — one of which recently raised some eyebrows.

Two days ago, he went viral for bringing his puzzling posting energy to the newsroom in a segment where he claimed that the "left considers Black conservatives traitors." To illustrate his point, Kelly posted pictures of Herman Cain, Ben Carson, Sheriff "Daivd" Clarke [sic] and … Ben Shapiro.

As one can deduce from the above image, Ben Shapiro is not a Black man. It appears Greg Kelly also knew this and justified Shapiro's inclusion in a list of prominent Black conservatives (one of whom is dead) by calling Ben a "hero" of the Black conservative movement.

"Ben Shapiro, not Black but one of the heroes of the movement," said Kelly. "This really disrupts the narrative and that’s why they are marginalized. They shouldn’t be. They should be celebrated and listened to, right?"

It's unclear why Kelly opted to use Ben Shapiro and the late Herman Cain to illustrate his point about Black conservative voices being "silenced" when he had other conservatives who were both A) Black and B) alive to choose from, such as Clarence Thomas or Candace Owens. While his and Newsmax's reasoning remains a mystery, Twitter users had a grand time yukking it up over the graphic.

The screenshot from Kelly's show seemed ridiculous enough that Snopes even had to step in and verify that yes, it appeared on national television.

For his part, Kelly sent off a brief tweet thanking Mediaite for accurately reporting he called Shapiro a "Hero of the Black Conservative Movement" before returning to his usual posting slate.
