Americans Rejoice As U.S. Senate Unanimously Passes Bill To Abolish Daylight Savings Time
Roughly two hours ago, the U.S. Senate passed a bill to officially make Daylight Savings Time permanent in 2023, effectively getting rid of the need to change clocks twice a year. As expected given the years of disdain and memes hating on the bi-annual time change, the news is already inspiring reactions and memes online from people elated about the development.
Florida Senator Marco Rubio was the leading proponent of the act and addressed the floor this afternoon in accordance with his beliefs. In a video recorded by C-SPAN today, Rubio addressed the room with no objections, leading to the approval of the amendment and an end to "spring forward" and "fall back" in the years ahead.

Although it still needs approval from President Joe Biden, the bill will most likely pass through the executive office. Daylight Savings Time is something that's been controversial since the 1970s, only being created for farmers of the early 20th century. Since then, it's mostly sparked contempt from citizens who question its necessity and loathe the annual 4 p.m. darkness during winter months. This year was no different, with tweets and memes about the clock shift percolating on social media before the critical moment on Sunday morning.
Everyone thought this was a great idea in the 70s then we tried it and people hated it. https://t.co/gWJlrZyjBM

The only issue Americans can agree on? Getting rid of Daylight Savings Time. And Congress can’t even get that done.

However, since the bill has been passed today, users online are celebrating the development in droves. The near-unanimous rejoicing is manifesting itself in humorous tweets and memes around the web, and will likely continue into tomorrow as the news spreads.

I hate Daylight Savings Time, but it is kinda cool how the state can just be like "all of the clocks in the country that were accurate yesterday are now an hour off" and everyone is just like, "ok I'll change my clocks"

Who knows if much will change regarding the elimination. Regardless, the idea of Daylight Savings will become obsolete over time as no one grows up with it anymore. The concept will be one for the history books as something grandma and grandpa had to do back when Generation Z was still young and reckless.
