Asgore Running Over Dess refers to a series of videos, animation memes and fan art around a prominent fan theory from the video game Deltarune, with fans theorizing that the character Asgore Dreemurr killed Dess Holiday in a car accident. Asgore Dreemurr is Kris and Asriel’s father, a former police chief and the current owner of a flower shop. Dess Holiday is the older sister of Noelle Holiday, and though she is frequently mentioned, she never appears in-game and is implied to be missing or possibly deceased. Fan theories about how Asgore Dreemurr may have been responsible for Dess's death began making the rounds in 2021, partly informed by Asgore's murderous counterpart in Undertale, and partly inspired by the theory that Dess is the Roaring Knight. By June 2025, fan works depicting Asgore Dreemurr running over or hitting Dess Holiday with a vehicle began making the rounds online, with one scene from the 2006 animated film Open Season being used as a base template for reanimations and edits. The meme subsequently evolved to depict other characters behind the wheel.

Deltarune fans began discussing the possibility that Asgore Dreemurr may have killed Dess Holiday as early as September 2021, with Redditor /u/degraffa posting, "I think Deltarune's Asgore may have killed Noelle's sister Dess," to the subreddit /r/Deltarune^[1] on September 18th, 2021.

An early artistic representation of the "Asgore Running Over Dess" theory is a July 12th, 2022, post by Tumblr^[2] user @dessbian, who wrote, "sorry I cannot take the 'asgore hit dess with his car' theory seriously because I just picture this," showing Dess in the Peter Griffin Death Pose.

On October 14th, 2024, Redditor^[8] /u/theory_crafter858 posted a video to the subreddit /r/Deltarune, writing, "How Dess 'disappeared,'" and showing Asgore swerving to run her over. The post gathered over 2,000 upvotes in eight months.

On June 11th, 2025, Twitter / X^[3] user @Triki_Tr0y posted a GIF that popularised the Asgore Running Over Dess meme, showing Asgore smirking, before the scene fades into him driving his car at night and running over Dess Holiday. The post was captioned, "Carol: oh my sweet dess I hope one day will we found you / Asgore on the couch knowing she was the roaring knight," and gathered over 70,000 likes in 10 days.

The GIF is based on a scene from the 2006 film Open Season, in which Shaw, a hunter, says, "It ain't my fault, he ran right in front of my truck!" before a flashback shows him swerving off the road to purposefully strike Elliot the deer. YouTuber^[4] ILL posted the clip from the movie on January 12th, 2022, gathering over 130,000 views in three years.

Also on June 16th, X^[6] user @ElTronnyXD posted a redraw of the Chad Driver meme, gathering over 39,000 likes in a week.

On June 18th, X^[9] user @idk_lol8 posted a meme showing Dess listening to a Roaring Knight "Driptale Car" remix as Asgore speeds toward her in the distance, gathering over 32,000 likes in six days.

Some internet users posted alternate versions of the Asgore Running over Dess GIF, as seen in a June 19th, 2025, post by X^[7] user @DarkWorldRaltzy, who responded to a tweet that read, "This is what December was listening to when she ran over asgore," with their version of the GIF, gathering over 38,000 likes in four days.
