Australian Politican Sues YouTuber For Calling Him "Fatty McF*ck Head"
YouTubers have long encouraged viewers to "sound off in the comments," but rarely do they want that happening in court. Unfortunately for Australian YouTuber Jordan Shanks, aka FriendlyJordies, that might just happen.
According to a new video from FriendlyJordies, Australian politician Clive Palmer has sent a letter of intent to sue the YouTuber for the "gentle ribbing over the years" as Shanks put it. The letter, however, states that Shanks' videos have damaged Palmer's "professional, personal and political reputation" as a result of "dematatory comments" made in his videos.
"This is just the lyrics to a Simple Plan song," Shanks said of the letter. "This is just four pages of unbelievably whiny sap."
Some of the insults lobbed by Shanks in regards to Palmer, as stated in the lawsuit, include "Fatty McFuckhead," a "Dense humpty Dumpty," a "nutty turd who pretends to be Austrailian" and more. Shanks appears excited to face the court and prove Palmer are those things becauase the lawsuit would require Palmer is not, in fact, the things Shanks describes.
Additionally, Shanks does not appear threatened by the $500,000 defamation suit because he does not have the money to begin with. If the YouTuber does not comply within 28 days, lawyers will move forward with the suit.
"You see, in Clive's attempt to pervert the law, he made one tiny miscalculation and that is I'm a millennial, going bankrupt doesn't scare me."
Shanks is so unafraid of the suit that he's made t-shirts to further bolster the "Fatty McFuckhead" label.
The lawsuit does not stop at money. Palmer would require Shanks to make a video that retracts and apologizes for previous insults and for him to delete earlier publications that feature criticism of Palmer.
Judging by Shanks video, it doesn't look like any of those things are going to happen. Throughout the latest 26-minute video, Shanks makes a case for his criticism of Palmer and his position in the public arena as something of a disliked politician, defending his insults. Shanks also makes a point to claim that the lawsuit will only harm Palmer's credibility further.
"Being offended by a nursery rhyme sort of wipes away any credibility that you're not a baby, especially when you feel the need to point that being called a 'humpty dumpty' is a false statement."
So it looks like FriendlyJordies will see Palmer in court.
