So last month, I beat two platformers: Kirby Planet Robobot and Mighty No. 9.

One is an amazing example of the genre with great level design, spectacular game feel, clever puzzles and secrets, and an interesting example of an interactive narrative (yes, really).

The other is not a good game. I think I enjoyed Mighty No. 9 more than most people (to the point where I’m tempted to buy the Ray DLC). I thought the dash move felt really satisfying, and I like how the bosses appear in levels besides their own, giving the world a sense of consistency. Unfortunately, it’s level and boss designs put too much of a burden on the player for it to be good.

Good luck with that sequel, I guess…
