While that's true, picture this Toph is angry and hurt after a long days work resulting in nothing. The man in her life aban- doned her, and everything in her life appears to be biting her in the ass again for barking and biting too loud. Then he's there, the one that always made her laugh, or smile when he wasn't looking, the one who could always take a punch from her, because it was her. He was there for her yet again in that lonely police station It's a few weeks later, she's feeling better about herself, she's telling herself not to get her hopes up, to not consider the possibilities, but she can't help herself, this might be one of the flawlessly good decisions she makes with her life, shes just thinking about how to tell Lin....how she's going to tell HIM, that Lin's going to have a sister. Then she gets the news, Sokka didn't return from the Avatar's excursion with extremists in the North....all that a weeping Katara brings back is her brothers "Trusty boomerang." loph's world is shattered again, they didn't make the move fast enough, she didn't go with him when he spoke of the mission he was assigned to, she could've done something, but it's too late now and she's alone. Alone with the only thing eft of him waiting to be born a few months later. She favors this child as opposed to pushing her with rugged sternness, she becomes allowing to her as opposed to draconian to her misbehavior. Her hi-jinks and mischief and at times irresponsi- ble naiveness get excused...and perhaps evern remind Toph of someone This causes Tension however between the child she's already taught to be jaded. She was never cut out to be mother she thought....not by herself, not without him LEAVE
