Goommymuffin is the social media handle for the animated characters Goommy and Muffin, a "sassy ghost cat girl" and "nerdy mouse girl," respectively. Goommymuffin began posting animations featuring the characters on X / Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube in early April 2025, garnering tens of thousands of followers in less than a month. The characters quickly became the subjects of fan art and other content. In May 2025, the account's fast growth led to some accusations that the page is an industry plant.

History

On April 11th, 2025, the goommymuffin Instagram^[1] page posted its first animation, which sees Muffin being haunted by Goommy and trying to catch her in a ghost-catching vacuum, a reference to the Luigi's Mansion franchise, garnering over 3,200 likes in a month.

The video was posted to the @goommymuffin TikTok^[2] page on April 12th, garnering over 198,000 views in the same span of time.

On April 21st, the @goommymuffin X^[3] page posted its first piece of content, a graphic for each character that describes their personalities, garnering over 3,700 likes in three weeks.

On April 22nd, the @goommymuffin TikTok^[4] page posted an animation in which the two characters pose in a variety of ways to the beat of a song, garnering over 150,000 views in three weeks.

On May 10th, 2025, the @goommymuffin TikTok^[5] and Instagram^[6] pages posted an animation in which the two characters are put through an "outfit machine" that changes their outfits, garnering over 1.3 million views and 81,000 likes, respectively, in four days. The animation was posted to X^[7] on May 12th, garnering over 73,000 likes and 5,500 reposts in two days.

Online Presence

Goommymuffin's videos started to inspire fan art and content throughout late April and early May 2025. For example, on May 13th, 2025, X^[8] user @Voltmaster07 posted fan art of Goommy that gained over 1,100 likes in a day.

Later that same day, X^[9] user @TheSillySnail made a post hypothesizing that the animator is an industry plant, writing, "All their socials were made in april 2025, have 5 posts each and they already have 13k followers and a first tweet with over 60k likes, never thought I'd see the day where I call something an industry plant and it's an actual industry plant 🥹," garnering over 36,000 likes in a day.

On May 14th, 2025, X^[10] user @HauntedFennie posted a pixel art idle animation of Muffin, writing, "Love this silly mouse girl ❤️🐁," garnering over 350 likes in under a day.
